Wellmoor

Wellmoor is the health and wellbeing arm of Moretonhampstead Development Trust. Wellmoor aims to empower whole community well-being by pioneering innovative projects to respond to the needs of local people. They offer support across communities in North-East Dartmoor, including Moretonhampstead, Chagford and Okehampton.

The Wellmoor team are currently working on several projects aiming to address key wellbeing needs in the local community:

Community Allotment

The community allotment was an idea proposed by local GPs, who wanted to be able to ‘prescribe’ outdoor work for people with a range of mental and physical health conditions. Wellmoor combined forces with Moretonhampstead Health Centre, and with the help of a team of knowledgeable volunteers the allotment is thriving. The allotment has been the site of several informative talks from local experts, and now houses a resource centre, a wildlife garden, as well as numerous varieties of vegetables, plants and flowers. Digital Befriending

Wellmoor’s Digital Befriending volunteers help isolated members of the local community with online skills. Their fully trained volunteers offer one to one, in-person support with using technology, helping clients with tasks such as ordering shopping online, video calling friends and family, and booking doctor’s appointments using their computer or smartphone. If you would like to become a volunteer or you know anyone who needs help with digital skills, email Katie on katie@wellmoor.org.uk.
